One of Aesop’s rhyming fables presents us with a moral lesson which still raises questions in the 21st century. Read about the consequences of not working hard and seizing the moment. Is it worth it? Was the ant right or wrong when he refused to help? What would your students do?
FOCUS OF THE GAMES:
• description of the ant and the cricket
• spelling practice by ordering letters
• gap-filling to summarize the events
IN THE CLASSROOM:
Divide the class and ask one group to represent the ant, the other the cricket. Ask them to think about the advantages of their activities in the summer and present their ideas and the story from their point of view. Develop their critical thinking, presentation skills and reasoning.
