Social-Emotional Learning Through the Lens of EdTech

Are Digitized Books as Good as Traditional Reading?

According to Promethean’s 2021/22 education report, achievement in school is secondary to improving social and emotional learning.

Soft skills such as creativity, critical thinking, time management and social awareness are key in shaping successful employees and leaders of our future and also important in one’s personal life. The role of technology in developing these skills has been a controversial topic for years,  however, technology in education – used the right way – can support the improvement of social-emotional skills on several levels. Being tech-savvy and having strong emotional abilities are all part of the 21st-century skill set.

Institutions and decision-makers in education need to consider this shift of focus (from attainment to social skills) and provide the best tools and resources to teachers for better SEL.

During the roundtable session, you can learn more about the importance of social-emotional learning (SEL) and its main aspects. We also tackle the question of whether technology has a positive or negative effect on improving soft skills and how EdTech can foster SEL.

The event is hosted by BOOKR Class, so you can also find out how BOOKR Class, the animated library for English learning can support soft skill development with storytelling.
