Do I need to know what my student’s Lexile score is in order to add them to the Teacher’s Dashboard?

The Lexile score information is not mandatory to add at the time of student registration. If you know the score you can type the number in the Lexile score text field or wait for the student to fill out the placement test in the app and then it automatically loads into the student’s profile.

❯ A student’s profile page appears and you’ll find the Lexile score under the last name field next to the birth year.

What is the Lexile Measurement System?

A Lexile learner measure is the numeric representation of a learner’s ability to read English. Quite simply, a Lexile Measure is an assessment which provides a way to measure a student’s English reading ability or the difficulty of a text. It is a useful tool for educators, administrators and parents. Measures fall on an intuitive scale with beginners or easy texts at the bottom and moving up as students and texts advance.

The Lexile scale is a developmental scale ranging from beginning learner measures below 0L (at most BR 400L) to above 1600L for advanced abilities. The higher the learner’s Lexile measure, the greater their ability to read English. More than 35 million learners from 180 countries around the world have received a Lexile measure.
